E.1Mentor

Become an E.1 Mentor – A rewarding experience for both you and your company

Pass On Your Experience – Gain New Perspectives

At E.1 Mentor, we connect students in the final stages of their higher education with experienced professionals from the business community. The programme is open to both Danish and international students.

Over the course of your career, you've built up valuable knowledge, insights, and experience. E.1 Mentor gives you the opportunity to share that expertise with a student preparing to take their first steps into the professional world – while gaining something in return.

As a mentor, you'll support and inspire a student on their journey from education to employment. Along the way, you'll gain fresh perspectives, broaden your network, and further develop your own leadership and
communication skills. It's a rewarding experience that creates value for both mentor and mentee.

Share Your Knowledge – Strengthen Your Own Career

Being a mentor is a unique opportunity to grow professionally while making a meaningful impact on both a student and your own organisation. Through one-to-one mentoring, workshops, and networking opportunities, you'll:

  • Strengthen your communication and leadership skills
  • Gain fresh perspectives on your own work and career
  • Develop your ability to guide, support, and motivate others

Many former mentors say that the experience gave them valuable new insights into their own ways of working. So while you may expect to be the one sharing your knowledge, don't be surprised if you find yourself learning just as much along the way.

  • A few hours with significant reward

Do you have 20–25 hours to spare over six months? Then you have enough time to become a mentor!

We know that work and everyday life can be busy, which is why the E.1 Mentor programme is designed to be flexible and fit around your schedule. Over the six-month mentoring period, you'll typically spend just 1–2 hours per month meeting with your mentee. In addition, you'll be invited to take part in four workshops that provide inspiration, practical tools, and guidance to help you get the most out of the mentoring experience.

The time commitment is modest, but the benefits can be significant – for you, your mentee, and your organisation.

  • Networking events and peer exchange

Through networking events, mentoring sessions, and the sharing of knowledge and experience, E.1 Mentor helps students bridge the gap between education and working life.

As a mentor, you'll support a student as they prepare for their future career while gaining valuable experience yourself. You'll have the chance to strengthen your mentoring and communication skills, connecting with other mentors, and gain fresh perspectives through meaningful conversations and exchanges.

By taking part, you're not only making a difference to an individual student – you're also helping to strengthen Esbjerg as a study destination and contribute to the future talent pipeline in Southwest Denmark.

Good for You – and Good for Your company

Let's be honest: if your manager asks why you should spend time on this, we've got the answer. E.1 Mentor isn't just a rewarding experience for you personally – it also creates value for your organisation. By becoming a mentor, you and your company can benefit from:

  • Fresh perspectives and new ideas from emerging talent
  • A stronger employer brand by giving students a personal insight into your organisation and workplace culture
  • Valuable connections with potential future talent, creating opportunities for future recruitment
  • Demonstrating your organisation's commitment to supporting education, talent development, and the continued growth of Esbjerg
  • Expanding your professional network through workshops, events, and interactions with other mentors and businesses, which can open the door to new partnerships and collaborations
  • In short, mentoring is an investment that benefits both people and business – while helping shape the next generation of professionals.

The Matching Process

Once we have received mentor profiles, we create a call for applications aimed at prospective mentees. Based on the applications received, we carefully match mentors and mentees to ensure the best possible fit. If there is any uncertainty about a potential match, the mentor will be contacted before the pairing is finalised.

All mentors will be informed of their mentee during October. Both mentor and mentee will receive information about each other ahead of the programme and will meet for the first time at the official kick-off event in November.
